Here you will have information about our legal notices, principles of intellectual property and the policy of protection of Personal Data of makesense, and other festivities!

1- Changes and notices

The use of the makesense Sites implies full acceptance of the legal notices and policy regarding Personal Data. The latter are likely to be modified or supplemented at any time, Users of the makesense Sites are therefore invited to consult them on a regular basis . In certain cases of modification of these legal notices and this policy in terms of Personal Data, the new version will be brought to your attention when you connect to the Site using a banner.  

2- Glossary

Trained volunteers:
“Trained volunteers” are makesense volunteers who have benefited from peer-to-peer or online training in our open source tools, which allow them to mobilize in their cities and develop makesense.

Personal data:
Any information concerning an identified or identifiable natural person (eg surname, first name, telephone number, photograph, date of birth, municipality of residence, etc.).

Recipients:  
Person authorized to obtain communication of personal data recorded in a file or processing due to their functions.

Purpose of processing:
Main purpose of a computer application of Personal Data. Examples of purposes: recruitment management, satisfaction survey, sending newsletters, etc.

Geolocation:
Technology to determine the location of an object or a person with a certain precision. The technology is generally based on the GPS system or on the communication interfaces of a mobile telephone.

Processing manager:
Unless expressly designated by the legislative or regulatory provisions relating to this processing, the person responsible for processing Personal Data is the person, public authority, service or body which determines its Purposes and its means.

Processing of Personal Data

Transfer of Data
Any communication, copy or movement of Personal Data intended to be processed in a country outside the European Union.

The purpose of the Sites is to provide information concerning all of the association’s activities.

4- Intellectual property and counterfeits

Website
The general structure of the Sites as well as all their editorial content and in particular the texts, graphics, images, sounds and videos composing them are the exclusive property of Makesense, unless otherwise indicated. Any representation and/or reproduction and/or partial or total exploitation of the content (including graphics, representations, images, audio or video content) made available on the Sites, by any means whatsoever (including downloading, screen scrapping), without the prior written permission of Makesense is strictly prohibited.

By way of exception, the preparation of a single copy for private (therefore non-commercial) purposes by downloading onto a private and personal computer (excluding any permanent or temporary recording on this ordinary, use in offline or screen copying and printing) is authorized, subject nevertheless that this activity does not modify the Website and its content and that the references to copyrights, trademarks and other intellectual property rights are incorporated or repeated in these copies.

Links

5- Personal Data Management

What data do we collect, when, and on what basis?
In general, when you visit the Site, we collect information such as your IP address and/or data concerning your browser or your computer device (Language in which the Site is displayed, location, IP address, browsing data and behavior on the Site), which then enable us to provide you with access to the Site and relevant content.

There are, however, pages where you can provide additional Personal Data to register or contact us.

This personal data will include:

The processing of your personal data that you fill in a form is based on your consent (eg who you are, your interests, email address, etc.). You can withdraw your consent to this processing at any time.

In the absence of processing of your personal data, we would not be able to pursue the purposes described below.

Transfer of data between makesense Sites and with third parties
The data collected on a Site is synchronized between the different makesense Sites. On the other hand, some questions asked may change between the different makesense Sites depending on the subject of the Site (if you go to the makesense Festival Site, questions concerning your commitment to the festival will be asked, while on the FutureOfWaste Site of makesense, you will be asked questions concerning your appetites and your practices on the subject of waste). The online questionnaire is in no way completed automatically, it is completed by the User himself. If the User has already given his email, the questionnaire is pre-filled with the information already filled in on the various makesense Sites.

Your personal data may be transferred for the purposes described below to joint data controllers or subcontractors established in countries that are not members of the European Union or the European Economic Area where the laws relating to the protection of personal data are likely to be different from those applied within your country.

We are likely to aggregate the data that you provide to us through the Website with the data that you may provide to us in parallel with the Website (makesense program registration form, makesense event for which you have registered, call for projects, participation in a makesense competition, etc.).

Why does makesense collect my Personal Data?
makesense uses your Personal Data for the following Purposes:

Customization of Websites 
We may use your Personal Data and cookies to adapt our Site to your profile. Your data may be crossed with navigation data. For example: we can adapt the language of the Website and   display certain events according to your location or display certain banners on the Website according to your interests. For more information and to manage your cookies, go to the “Cookies” section.

The personalization of our services and the messages we send you
With your consent when you complete the questionnaire, we use your Personal Data to send you information that we believe may be relevant to you by email or by notifications on the Site. For example: we can send you personalized emails or recommend makesense programs, calls for projects, events similar to those you have already attended or consulted and which correspond to your centers of interest and all possibilities of engagement offered by makesense that might interest you. You can change your communication preferences on the questionnaire itself at any time. You can also revoke this consent at any time by clicking on one of the various “unsubscribe” links or by contacting us at support@makesense.org.

User knowledge and our Site’s statistics and performance
We may use data to better understand our Users or for statistical purposes to analyze our Site’s activity and improve the services we offer. We carry out audience measurements: for example, we measure the number of pages viewed, the number of visits to the Site, as well as the activity of visitors to the Site and their frequency of return.

Please note that depending on your settings, we may also send you notifications regarding the operation of our services, such as the revision of the terms of this Privacy Policy for example   or other changes to the services. that you use.

How long is your data stored?
We store your Personal Data as follows:

– technical data (IP address, device information) collected incidentally when you visit the Site will be kept for a maximum of 30 days;

-if you sign up to receive our messages, we will retain your information until you unsubscribe, after which time we will only retain information that will allow us to honor your unsubscribe preference;

Your data is shared within the makesense association and within the data controllers described above. Only employees and certain trained Volunteers of makesense and joint processing managers have access to it within the strict framework of the Purposes above. By “Trained volunteers” we mean volunteers who have undergone training within makesense to develop the makesense community in their city.

Under no circumstances will the data collected on the makesense.org Site and associated Sites be transferred or sold to third parties for marketing purposes outside of the makesense association. The data transferred to third parties are only transferred within the framework of services and are subject to contracts containing clauses in accordance with the legislation in force: agency for creating and sending newsletters such as mailchimp, etc. See the “service providers used” section for more information.

We reserve the right to disclose your personal data (i) if required to do so by law, regulation or court order (ii) to law enforcement authorities or other government officials, subject to applicable law (iii) when we believe that disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss or is necessary for the conduct of an investigation into an illegal or suspected illegal activity, subject to applicable law.

To perform certain functions on our behalf, we may use one of the third-party services, including those listed below. The data is therefore likely to be processed outside the European Union.

Google Analytics

Facebook Analytics

Solution segment
at the heart of our infrastructure to centralize and direct the information, actions and data of our services and user accounts on different platforms. For more information on Segment’s privacy practices please see their  Privacy Policy .

Autopilot
offers us the possibility of creating personalized and automatic paths to send emails, sms, etc. For more information about Autopilot’s privacy practices please see their  Privacy Policy .

Mailchimp

Zapier & Integromat Allow

Amazon web services
Hosting solution for our infrastructure. All of our services are hosted in European data centers: Dublin or Frankfurt. For more information on the privacy practices of Google Analytics please see their  Privacy Policy .

Slack
We use Slack as an internal messaging solution for the makesense team, we may use Slack to respond to you. For more information about Slack’s privacy practices please see their  Privacy Policy .

Typeform
Online service for creating nice and smart forms. For more information about Typeform’s privacy practices please see their  Privacy Policy .

Airtable
We use Airtable to manage our contact databases and the progress of our actions and missions. For more information on Airtable’s privacy practices please see their  Privacy Policy .

Chatfuel and Recast.AI
We use Chatfuel and Recast.Ai to develop the makesense chatbot. Thanks to this chatbot, we get in touch with our Users, share their makesense articles and events, we support them in the organization of events and in the follow-up of the makesense programs and trainings they follow. We only come into contact with our Users when they have given us permission.

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that these service providers respect the confidentiality of your Personal Data and only use your Personal Data as necessary to perform their functions and not for any other purpose.

How is your data secured?

The security of your Personal Data is important to us. We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent the loss, disclosure, misuse, alteration and deletion of Personal Data. These measures are adapted according to the level of sensitivity of the data processed and according to the level of risk presented by the processing or its implementation. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet or by e-mail is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted via the Sites or by email. Any transmission is at your own risk. Upon receipt of your information,

7- What are your rights?

It is important that the personal data concerning you and that we hold is up to date. As such, please let us know of any changes to your personal data. You can also exercise the following rights:

Right of access
You have the right to request information about the processing of your Personal Data carried out by makesense. Your information is available at all times on the “Build your experience” page and will be directly modified on the third-party services we use to manage this data (Segment, Big Query, Autopilot, Mailchimp, Slack, Facebook Audience, Zapier and Integromat).

Right of rectification
If your Personal Data is altered or inaccurate, you have the right to ask us to rectify it. If we have transmitted them to a third party, we will inform them of their rectification.

Right to object to processing
You may object to the use of your Personal Data for its own legitimate interests. We will consider your objection and determine whether the processing of your data unfairly harms you in a way that forces us to stop it. You can also oppose the sending of personalized commercial messages by clicking on “unsubscribe” at the bottom of the email concerned. You cannot oppose the processing of your Personal Data when the law obliges us to do so.

Right to restrict processing
You have the right to ask us to restrict our use of your Personal Data to the extent defined by law.

Right to data portability
You have the right to ask us for the direct transfer of your Personal Data, either directly to you or to another company, within the framework defined by the legislation. Where technically feasible, we will ensure the transfer of your Personal Data.
